Many people view dental “insurance” plans similar to medical plans; however, this is not the case. Dental “insurance” or benefit companies clearly do not have you as the patient’s best interest in mind. In fact, many of the most necessary procedures are minimally covered if covered at all. In the past forty years the average annual maximums which plans offer have hardly changed while the costs of materials and services continue to increase. This is why we at Elite Dental consider having dental “insurance” to simply be a benefit towards preventative dental care such as cleanings, exams, x-rays and sealants. While you may receive some coverage for additional services; as the fee for the procedure goes up the coverage from the company goes down. This just doesn’t make sense and often causes a domino effect of patients putting off dental care until it is to late. It is my belief that “insurance” companies will continue to dictate patient treatment unless providers and patients take a stand to disallow this.
 
In my previous practice we chose to be preferred providers for numerous insurance companies. While it may have helped drive new patients to the practice it didn’t allow us as the providers to always offer the most advanced materials and procedures. This is exactly what the insurance company wants; they want to dictate your care to offer the least favorable option by paying the most for that particular procedure.
 
In founding Elite Dental, we vowed to never allow our patients’ insurance companies to dictate their treatment. We use the absolute most advanced materials and offer comprehensive care dentistry to ensure our patients’ oral health is number one. Due to the reasons mentioned above, Elite Dental is not a preferred provider for any “insurance” companies; we will not allow for our patients to have sub-standard materials or for that company to choose what’s best for your oral health.
